Comments

The sequence of plumages of all varieties of Wandering Albatross is similar, from fledging dark brown with white underwing and face and becoming paler with age. Eight typical plumages have been described in Wandering Albatrosses. This New Zealand bird, seen at Kaikoura, exhibits plumage D, which is found by Tristan da Cunha and both New Zealand races.
